Help Us Name the Collective

“Chattanooga Performing Arts Community” doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue for this website or the name of our group that will gather every other month. Want to help us name the group? Learn about how we arrived at the suggestions, and add your ideas!

Alongside our first gathering, we began a conversation about naming this new collective. Prior to the meeting, I asked two questions:

1. What words or phrases come to mind when you think about Chattanooga’s performing arts community as it exists today?

2. What words or phrases describe what you hope Chattanooga’s performing arts community will become in the future?

Here are those answers:

How performing arts community members described how the current performing arts scene feels.

How performing arts community members described what they want the future of our performing arts scene to become.

Potential names for our group, submitted by those who attended the first gathering, were inspired by the list of words we want our community to be—words that describe what we want the future of our performing arts scene and collective to look and feel like. “Chattanooga Performing Arts Community” and “Performing Arts Organization Gatherings” feel generic and not authentic to who we are and want to become.

We’d love to hear your suggestions! The name should reflect all performing arts disciplines and embody our shared vision of a vibrant, diverse community—coming together to advocate for ourselves and to strengthen Chattanooga’s performing arts landscape.
